Mellor Firsts back from the dead to beat Rochdalians

Mellor Firsts put last week's cup exit behind them to take all three points with a terrific away performance against Rochdalians. Mellor trailed 0-2 in the first half. But Terry Boon gave the visitors hope with an excellent free kick goal before the break. Luke Jubb equalised and Carl Brindley came off the bench to snatch a winner six minutes from time. Adie Campbell was Mellor's Man of the Match. The Seconds had a bad day at Wood Lane, losing 0-5 to Chorltonians. The Thirds stay top and maintained their 100 per cent record with a battling 3-2 away win at Cheadle Hulme Villa Reserves. Centre back John Callaghan proved his long term boast that he's really a striker by going up front and scoring twice. Maciek Sobiegraj scored the third. Mellor led 2-0 and 3-1 before the home side pulled a second back. Keeper Joe Kirkman was Mellor's star man. The Fourths entertained Govan Reserves and outplayed the visitors in the first period. Danny Roberts scored from the penalty spot after Aaron Greaves was tripped. But Govan equalised with a header from a corner a minute after the restart and with 15 minutes left scored a spectacular winner from 25 yards, the ball flying into the top corner. New signing Kyle Davidson at right back was Mellor's Man of the Match.
