Firsts' rivals drop points. Seconds in honourable 0-0.

Mellor Firsts had a week off. But their title aspirations were greatly helped when Bedians scored a last minute equaliser against Mellor's Premiership rivals Rochdalians, who dropped two crucial points in a 3-3 draw. Even if Rochdalians win their two games in hand they will still be two points behind Mellor. And they have yet to visit Wood Lane. The Seconds returned to form at Wood Lane, earning a creditable 0-0 draw against Whalley Range, who are above Mellor in Division A. It was a tight and in the first half sometimes ill-tempered game of few real chances. The visitors claimed they had scored near the end but the ball was nowhere near the line, let alone over it. Jamie Oldham was Mellor's Man of the Match. The Thirds went to Hollingworth and had the better of the game but came away losing 0-3. The side missed a glut of chances in the first half and turned around 0-2 down. It was the same story after the break but the home side added a third. Two of Hollingworth's goals came from corners. The Fourths hosted Moston Brook at Brabyns and won comfortably 2-0. For the second week running the Fourths scored in the first minute. But Maciek Sobiegoraj's strike is a contender for the fastest ever goal scored by a Mellor FC player. Only 10 seconds were on the clock as Pat Boyle's header sent Maciek clear to rifle home left footed. On 15 minutes Boyle headed over from Maciek's cross and three minutes later Tom Bright should have scored but dragged his shot wide of the left hand post. Mellor looked threatening ever time they went forward. But at times the defence looked a little shaky, especially at set pieces. The Moston Brook keeper denied Bright with his legs on 25 minutes but 10 minutes from time Bright finally got on the scoresheet to keep the Fourths in third place in Division D. Klaudio Velaj made his club debut as a second half substitute and Danny Roberts was Mellor's star man.
